Summer Fun and Nature Camp will take place July 11-17.

Welcome to the Camp Stoney parents' page.  This is a one-stop page for forms, policies, and tools to make your child's stay at Camp Stoney simple.

Drop off and pick up times

Our drop off time is 4:00 to 6:00 on Sunday afternoon.  Someone should stay with your child until he or she is checked in by the nurse.

Pick up is on Saturday morning is at 10:00 AM.

Bus Service

This summer, Camp Stoney is offering transportation service to and from the southern part of the Diocese. The dates of this service will be announced.  Parents just pay $25 per child per trip. The fee can be prepaid or accepted at the bus stop, and children should bring a bag lunch or money to stop for a fast food lunch.

Policies

Campers are not allowed to have cell phones, and there is almost no cell phone service available at Camp Stoney anyway.  We encourage parents to communicate with their children via snail mail or email.  We print out emails once a day and the emails should be sent to: camper@campstoney.org.  If you don't do email and lack confidence in the USPS, we suggest that you prepare notes ahead of time and leave them at the registration desk when you check your child in.  Include the day of the week that you want the note delivered, and we will pass it along during mail call.

We are also offering a care package program that will cost $29 and will be delivered to your child on a date of your choosing during the week.  This care package will consist of Camp Store items (a string backpack, a new Nalgene bottle and your choice of four other items); the order form will be at the registration table when you check in.

Our official policy is that we do not allow children to call home during camp.  We find that allowing children to call home makes homesickness worse.  However, that does not mean that we don't ever let children call home.  If the homesickness persists, and special TLC from the staff cannot alleviate it, we do allow a camper to call home.  Another exception to this policy is if your child gets sick or is injured.  click here to read more about this topic

This year we updated our dress code for counselors, and we are considering a similar dress code for campers sometime in the future.  The guidelines are as follows:

  • One-piece or tankini bathing suits only--no bikinis
  • No short shorts--to determine the minimum length for shorts, when standing with feet shoulder width apart and arms relaxed at your side, the inside and outside seams of the shorts should not be shorter than the length of your index finger.
  • T-shirts should be long enough so that if you raise your arms, your stomach will not show.  Also the decoration of the shirt should be appropriate--no logos for alcohol, crude jokes, statements that encourage violence, or sexual innuendo.

If you have questions about any of our policies, please do not hesitate to call the office or email us with questions.  If you have questions, others probably do too, so we will be updating this page regularly.

Pocket Money

We don't offer snacks and sodas in our camp store, so we do not encourage children to bring much pocket money to camp.  We do offer tee-shirts and other fun Camp Stoney stuff including emergency toiletries and batteries.  The camp store will also be open when you drop off and pick up your kids.

CDs of photos taken the week of your child's camp will be available for $5 when you pick them up.

Scholarships

The actual cost of camp is between $450 and $500 per camper, so every camper’s fees are subsidized by the camp..  Local parishes, women's groups and deaneries offer whole or partial scholarships to send children from their churches.  Applications should be submitted to them directly.  The M’Lisa Bale Scholarship Fund can provide some assistance and the deadline is usually in mid-April.  Finally, limited scholarship assistance is available directly through Camp Stoney and is based on funds donated by friends of the camp. Download the application form or contact us by phone or email and we can send it to you as an attachment or by snail mail.
